Laser Ablation in Fully Developed Flow

For my master’s thesis at the University of Twente, I undertook the task of constructing a laser ablation test setup capable of creating a precisely controlled flow regime. Unlike previous laser ablation setups found in the literature that relied on undefined fluid flows, our objective was to design a flow with a known velocity profile. This deliberate choice allowed us to gain insights into the behavior of bubbles formed during laser ablation in an underwater environment.

In the accompanying video, I provide a concise overview of the process involved in building and testing our laser ablation setup. If you’re interested in delving deeper, you can access the full thesis here.
